CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Link
Canon: Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Canonpoint: Post-arrival to Kakariko Village.
Age: 117 (17)
Background/History: A link to a Link.
Strengths v. Weaknesses:
STRENGTHS
The root of Link's strength comes from his biggest defining trait: his courage. 100 years ago or the present time, Link's bravery has not changed. While he has no memories of what kind of person he was or what he was meant to do, he still doesn't hesitate to step up to the plate and pick up where things left off. Aggressive creatures, wildlife, and environment want to kill him? No problem. He'll tackle that immediately and figure out how to get by.
In relation to his courage, Link also consistently contains a sense of nobility and heroics. He is determined to do the right thing, and will completely drop whatever he's in the middle of doing in order to help someone in need. Whether that means protecting them from beasts that want to do them harm, or apparently rescuing their damned chickens, it doesn't seem to really matter. True, there might be a reward in the end of it, but ultimately it's the act that truly matters to Link at heart. Getting a few items along the way that can help him survive in the wild is just kind of a nice benefit.
Lastly, Link can be described as incredibly clever, someone who has the ability to think on his feet and adapt to his situation, no matter how odd or unusual it is. He isn't a super genius or someone with supernatural abilities, but a man who can MacGyver his way out of most situations, whether he's in a fight with a giant monster or he's been shoved into a room with no way out unless he solves a series of puzzles. If you need someone who can adjust quickly to his environment, Link's the person you want to be stuck with.
WEAKNESSES
Something of a mixed blessing, but Link can become intensely focused on his responsibilities, but it's to the point in which he can come off as stoic and almost cold. This is situation dependent, but it's his way of dealing with the matters at hand, especially if there are a lot of responsibilities on him, like say being told you're destined to be your people's Champion to defeat a Great Evil even though you're just a knight but all right then. For Link, it's his coping method, but he does become silent and almost antisocial in that way. Not much of a talker to begin with, but even less so when he becomes intensely focused.
In addition, Link has the terrible habit of placing too much onto his own shoulders. While it's admirable that he commits to heroics, he is extra determined to be less of a burden on those he calls friend as much as he can, and that's a short list in itself as it stands. He is prone to pushing himself well beyond his limit, something that has definitely rendered him close to death before.
Although able to put together facts and get a grasp of a situation, Link is also a bit naive in some ways. Primarily, this is because he's woken up from a 100 year sleep of recovery that's rendered him with so little memories that he habitually does believe in the best of people -- even if, sometimes, he shouldn't do so. He'll take on tasks to himself and quickly say yes to people without thinking much on the consequences, so one might say that Link is excellent at looking at short-term issues, but not necessarily the long-term ones.
Greatest Fear: Failing (again). While Link has no real memory of who he was before he woke in the Shrine of Resurrection, he's quickly begun to feel the pressure of actions 100 years ago and the fate of Hyrule resting on his shoulders now.
Greatest Flaw: Throwing himself recklessly into any situation that might seem like it would help someone else. It's been said by other characters that Link has a habit of not thinking much about his own well-being while being waist-deep in danger for the sake of doing the Right Thing.
Abilities/Powers: Link has no real superhuman abilities himself, but his Sheikah Slate has provided him with runes that allow him to perform a few tricks. If these are not acceptable, I totally understand.
- The Bomb rune allows Link to form a bomb and remotely detonate it. It's enough to break down walls and loose stones, but there is no fiery charge to it.
- The Stasis rune lets Link temporarily place any moving object into a temporary time freeze for a few seconds. Objects in stasis can be struck a few times to build up kinetic energy, and when the stasis effect is over the object in question can vault off in the direction Link has indicated it.
- Cryonis lets Link place a large cube of ice over any body of water, including waterfalls and running rivers. He can make up to three of these.
- Magnesis is straightforward in that Link can lift up metallic objects through the effects of the Sheikah Slate.
Beyond that, Link's defining skills are in combat via archery and talent with almost any melee weapon, and thinking outside of the box. He's had to use his wits to get around situations and solve puzzles in order to slowly begin to climb to his goals. In addition, it can be said that he learns on the fly very quickly, adapting to people's instructions and learning new trades constantly, such as cooking, horseback riding, and so on.
Certainly don't ask him to figure out how to fix your radio, though. That ain't happening.
Inventory:
- Champion tunic, hood, and pants
- Sheikah Slate
- Traveler's Broadsword
- Traveler's Shield
- Traveler's Bow
- 12 arrows
- Two apples

GAME INFORMATION
Setting Suitability: Waking up into a new situation without a single clue on what's going on? Been there, done that, and will definitely do it again. On the plus side, Link has clothes this time. The way I see him fitting in is initially finding a struggle with such a strange setting to him as technology is both more advanced and yet unimpressive at the same time. Still, Link will be determined to do the right thing and help people out, no matter how weird the situation gets.
